The Village Grant Committee will conduct the meeting, which is slated for 6:30 p.m. April 10 at the Village Hall, 3758 Center Road. This gathering will take place prior to the regular Village Council meeting, which begins at 7.
Perry Village is applying for an Ohio Department of Natural Resources NatureWorks Grant to help fund the construction of two pickleball courts at Lee Lydic Park, located at 3954 Call Road. The project would include fencing, seating, and Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible pathways.
“Community participation and feedback are important components of the NatureWorks Grant process,” said Village Councilwoman Ashley Hacking, chairwoman of the Village Grant Committee as well as the Parks and Recreation Committee.
In fact, hosting a public meeting is one of the requirements listed in the NatureWorks grant application, Hacking added.
“We are hopeful that the meeting will serve as an opportunity for residents to show their support and contribute to a shared vision for improving recreational amenities within the village,” she said.
Perry Village residents, business owners and community stakeholders all are invited to attend and speak at the meeting.
The Grant Committee was formed specifically to guide the village’s application process for the NatureWorks Grant.
“Its purpose is to coordinate efforts related to planning, community engagement and preparation of all required documentation for the grant,” Hacking said.
In addition to Hacking, Grant Committee members are village Fiscal Officer John Roskos; village Parks and Recreation Committee members Pam Jenkins and Barb Howley; and Mayor James Gessic.
Earlier this year, the committee sought to strengthen the village’s NatureWorks Grant application by asking community members to write letters of support for constructing pickleball courts at Lee Lydic Park.
In late 2024, the committee also posted a survey on the Perry Ohio Community Facebook Page about the proposed pickleball courts. This survey was aimed at demonstrating the need for the project and ensuring that it was desired by the community.
