WASHINGTON (DC News Now) --Washington Capitals fans scrambled to the new "Ovi Shop" Monday morning after Capitals' player Alex Ovechkin scored his 895th career goal on Sunday. This makes Ovechkin the National Hockey League's all-time-leading scorer.
"I got off a flight from Spain last night. So I
've been up since 3:30, jet lagged, and I saw the store was opening and just jumped on the Metro, and I opened that door," said Capitals fan Mary Joslidell.
Joslidell was the first person to enter the store.
"I knew my family was going to make fun of me, that I was the first one in the store. But, I sent them all pictures. I've got kids in college, so now I'm getting like, texts from everyone, everywhere, telling me what they want me to buy," she said.

Lauren Isaac was also part of the first few customers on Monday morning. The longtime fan drove nearly an hour from Baltimore to be there when the store opened its doors.
"I left my house this morning around 5 a.m. I went to a gas station first to pick up several copies of the newspapers just so that we would have those in our collection, and then came parked and now [I'm] here. The weather's not great, but nothing would have stopped me," said Isaac.

Rhonda Long told DC News Now that she's been a Capitals fan for nearly 40 years. She said all the apparel for Ovechkin's 800th goal sold out before she could purchase.
"I feel like I didn't think I'd live to see this record being broken by him, and I was hoping it would be. I actually gave up thinking he could do it this season, but then Ovi did Ovi things and here we are," she added.
