NEWTON, Kan. (KSNW) -- The Newton hospital is preparing to celebrate its newly expanded emergency department. NMC Health will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22.
The expansion includes:
A fully enclosed ambulance bay for patient privacy and safety,
An expanded d
econtamination area with up to five times greater capacity,
A behavioral health suite equipped with three additional emergency department treatment rooms, featuring ligature-resistant and tamper-proof furnishings for patient safety,
Flexible privacy or monitoring glass options in treatment rooms,
An additional triage room,
A separate waiting area with a dedicated restroom for visitors, and
Enhanced security measures.

"By enhancing our emergency services, we are better equipped to provide the right care in the right place," Val Gleason, NMC Health president and CEO, said in a statement. "This addition will help us meet the growing needs of our community, providing timely, compassionate, and high-quality care to every patient who walks through our doors."
