Man gets 50 to life for murder in Foods Co. parking lot

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A 36-year-old man found guilty of murder in a deadly shooting that occurred outside the Foods Co. on Haley Street was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison, according to court records.
Adrian Sanchez Jr. was sentenced Friday, about a month after his conviction on c
harges of first-degree murder and drug possession while armed with a loaded gun.
Sanchez shot Chad Tyler Reeves, 31, in the grocery store’s parking lot on the afternoon of Jan. 29, 2021.
Surveillance video captured Sanchez approach with a gun and reach through the driver’s side window of Reeves’ vehicle, prosecutors said. He fired a shot when Reeves tried to leave. The bullet went through his arm and entered his chest, hitting his heart.
Reeves was taken to Kern Medical and pronounced dead within an hour.
Three people were arrested in Reeves’ death: Sanchez, who faced the most serious charges; and Christopher Herrera and Andi Queen, who pleaded no contest in 2021 to accessory charges. ...read more read less
