Johnny Gaudreau's wife Meredith announces birth of couple's third child

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Meredith Gaudreau, the widow of star Columbus Blue Jackets player Johnny Gaudreau, announced the birth of their third child just seven months after Johnny's death.
She announced on her Instagram account Monday that she gave birth to a son on April 1 and named him Carter M
ichael Gaudreau. Carter shares the same middle name as his late father with Meredith noting in her post "He looks exactly like his daddy too." Meredith's two other children with Johnny are daughter Noa, 2, and son Johnny Jr., who turned one in February.

Meredith announced she was pregnant with Carter at the memorial service of Johnny and his brother Matthew, who were killed on Aug. 29 in New Jersey when they were riding bicycles along the right shoulder of a southern New Jersey road and were struck from behind by a suspected drunk driver.
Sean Higgins, the defendant accused of killing the brothers, and his attorneys recently asked to dismiss multiple charges as he faces a potential trial. Attorneys claim the Gaudreau brothers were drunk while riding their bicycles, creating a dangerous situation on the road.
Since Johnny's death, the Gaudreau family has received countless tributes throughout the Blue Jackets season. Among those included the Nationwide Arena crowd singing "Happy Birthday" to Johnny Jr. during a game and multiple tributes during the Stadium Series game at Ohio Stadium. In early February, Meredith revealed that she got a tattoo on her ring finger that says "Forever" using Johnny's ashes. ...read more read less
