Authorities have charged a man with sexually assaulting three separate woman in Logan Square earlier this year, as well as two more women in crimes dating back to 2022 on the Northwest Side neighborhood and in Lake View.Chakib Mansour Khodja, 36, of Jefferson Park, was arrested Friday after arriving on a flight to O'Hare International Airport, Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling announced Monday. Khodja was charged with three felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault in the most recent attacks. Additionally, he also charged with sexual abuse, aggravated kidnapping, unlawful restraint, attempted home invasion and public indecency charges. In all, he faces 16 felony counts and two misdemeanors in the attacks of five women.Cook County State's Attorney Eileen O'Neill Burke said the investigation lasted three years, culminating in the arrest after "dogged" efforts of detectives and prosecutors."Today the city is safer. Today every single woman in this city — every single man who has a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister — should all be breathing a sigh of relief," Burke said. On July 15, 2022, Khodja allegedly sexually assaulted a 21-year-old woman in the 800 block of West Wellington Avenue.Police released a sketch of the suspect in the attacks in March.A month earlier, the woman attacked on Troy Street told the Sun-Times she did not notice anyone following her into her apartment's vestibule when she returned from a bar. She thought she was being robbed and tried to hand over her purse but, holding a knife, he demanded she take off her jacket and proceeded to assault her.“The knife is on my neck the whole time,” she told the Sun-Times then. “Every time I tried to get louder, he would press it closer.”The woman attacked on Bloomindale Avenue told a friend she was raped.
