Coroner identifies Fort Wayne woman who died after pursuit that led to crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Allen County Coroner has identified the woman who died Friday after a crash in northeast Fort Wayne.
The coroner identified her as Jamela Renee Hathaway, 28, from Fort Wayne.
Shortly before 3 a.m. Friday, police spotted a speeding car near Lake Avenue and Coliseu
m Boulevard, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department. An officer tried to pull over the car, but it sped away and eventually crashed into a tree near Sherborne Boulevard and Stafford Drive.
Another person, who has not been named, was also injured in the crash. It's unclear which of the two was driving.
The car caught fire after crashing, but neither of them were still inside, according to police.
The coroner ruled Hathaway died from multiple blunt force injuries due to the crash, which was ruled an accident, as is the standard manner of death for crashes.
