VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A driver suspected to be under the influence failed to yield when ordered to pull over early Sunday morning, which led to a pursuit, Visalia police say.
An officer spotted someone they believed to be impaired driving in the area of Court Street and Noble Avenue just
after 7:15 a.m.
The officer says the driver, 29-year-old Tiffany Jeff, refused the officer's command and continued driving, leading to a brief pursuit.
Police say Jeff ended up stopping her vehicle a half-mile away at School Avenue and Church Street, but then she refused to exit the vehicle.
When she did emerge investigators say she was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to the Visalia Police Department Headquarters to await transport to the jail.
While being processed and placed in a holding cell, the department says she proceeded to assault the arresting officer.
Later, police say, she was booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility on suspicion of DUI, misdemeanor evading, resisting or delaying an officer, battery on a peace officer, and felony resisting an officer with force or violence. ...read more read less
