UNM student creates inseat food delivery service app

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A UNM engineering student developed a game-changing app allowing sports fans to never miss out on the big play when stepping away to hit the concession stands. "The whole point of you being at the game is to actually watch the game, not to be in a big crowd and go throu
gh all of that hassle," said Younes Slaoui, the creator of Peanut Tech.
The app offers in-seat food delivery to fans during games. All you have to do is scan a QR code at your seat, which retrieves your seat information, instantly connecting you to a food menu for ordering, and then in just a few minutes, the food arrives at your seat.
"The fan would be able to watch the game instead of having to wait in line and get their food delivered to their seat, which is super convenient," continued Slaoui.

This big-scale idea was put to the test on the local scale. After many calls and some professional coding help, this young software developer received a chance to test out the app at the Los Alamos High School football stadium.
"I mapped out just under 900 seats with QR codes and stickers like this, and we did over three games...we did 120 orders and more than $1,500 in sales," Slaoui shared excitedly. The app was a success, but the big roadblock that Slaoui now faced was finding staff to grab the orders and deliver them to the seats.

"When I did it at Los Alamos, I brought my friends and my sister, and they just did the delivery running for us. But to actually scale it up, like you're saying, and do it at other places in New Mexico or across the country, I would have to figure out a solution to that. And so that's something we're still working on and thinking about," said Slaoui.
As this young software developer nears graduation, he told News 13 he does not plan to slow down, hoping to expand his company to other high schools or college sports stadiums across New Mexico. ...read more read less
