Mariette (Quirion) Thivierge, 84, of East Hartford, beloved wife of the late Jean Thivierge for 48 years, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Born on May 9, 1940, in St. Honore de Shenley, Canada, Mariette moved to Connecticut in 1967 and was a resident of Ea
st Hartford for the past 48 years. Mariette attended College Notre-Dame Quebec. She was a dedicated teacher who taught at St. Honore de Shenley for five years before moving to Connecticut. She also worked for Manchester Modes and retired from JCPenny after 25 years. Mariette was a longtime faithful communicant of North American Martyrs Parish and a member of the Women’s Guild. She was very active in the church and served as a Bingo volunteer on Friday nights. She loved to read and do her crossword puzzles. Besides her parents, Jean Maurice Quirion and Emilia (Langlois) Quirion, she was predeceased by her brother, Roland Quirion.
Mariette will be forever missed by her son, Pierre and wife Donna Thivierge of Manchester; her brothers, Claude and wife Jeanne Quirion of New Hampshire, Bertrand and wife Diane Quirion; her sisters, Hugette Ann and husband Serge Couture of New Hampshire, Therese and husband William O’Neil of Hew Hampshire and Raymonde Quirion of Montreal. She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Michel and Monique, as well and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of North American Martyrs Parish, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
