A car on fire in the middle of the Lincoln Tunnel sent plumes of dark smoke billowing above a Manhattan ferry terminal Sunday afternoon, fire officials said. Around 1:15 p.m., firefighters and EMS received a call about ominous clouds of smoke hovering over the Lincoln Tunnel’s two brick ventilatio n shafts located at 463 12th Ave. in the midtown ferry terminal by W. 39th St., FDNY officials said. Firefighters traced the smoke to a car in the center tube of the Lincoln Tunnel that was traveling from New Jersey to Manhattan when it caught fire, according to FDNY.
