Frankfort imposes curfew in floodaffected areas to enhance safety and recovery efforts

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The City of Frankfort has issued a mandatory curfew for flood-affected areas as officials continue to navigate the impact of recent flooding. The curfew, according to a release from the City of Frankfort, will be in effect from 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025
, to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025.
The curfew applies to several flood-affected areas, including:
All of South Frankfort
The downtown areas of North Frankfort
The Taylor Avenue area
The Bellpoint area
According to the release, the decision to implement a curfew was made to protect life and property, prevent looting and vandalism, and facilitate the work of emergency responders and recovery teams.
“While we understand that this curfew may cause inconvenience, it is a necessary measure to ensure public safety, prevent looting and vandalism, and allow our first responders and recovery teams to operate efficiently,” the release from Mayor Layne Wilkerson stated.
The City of Frankfort emphasized that emergency personnel and essential workers will be exempt from the curfew. Officials are continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates through official city channels.
