Electric motorcycle rider injured in rearend collision

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A 35-year-old man sustained injuries after rear-ending a Chevy Bolt SUV while riding an electric motorcycle in Mission Beach on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Police Dep
artment, the motorcycle rider was traveling northbound on the 3700 block of Mission Boulvard around 2:30 p.m. when he collided with the back of the SUV, which was also headed in the same direction.
The impact caused the rider to suffer an open pelvic fracture, police said. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life-threatening. Meanwhile, the driver of the Chevy Bolt, a 42-year-old man, was not injured in the collision.
SDPD's Traffic Division is currently handling the investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities have confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the incident. No further details have been released and the investigation remains ongoing.
