APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - One person is being treated at a local hospital for serious injuries after they allegedly fled from officers on a motorized bicycle in Appleton after being stopped for driving recklessly.
According to the Appleton Police Department, an officer stopped a group of people rid
ing on motorized bicycles for driving recklessly in traffic near the intersection of East College Avenue and Appleton Street. This was around 8:35 p.m. on Saturday, April 5.
Shortly after, while officers were interviewing and trying to identify people in the group, one person reportedly fled on the motorized bike and into traffic. They were then hit by a passing vehicle.

The person was taken to a local hospital and is being treated for serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.
