CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A 6-year-old patient at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital will throw the ceremonial first pitch at Sunday’s Charleston RiverDogs baseball game. Jaxson Foxwell was diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia, which is a rare blood disorder. He recently underwent a bo ne marrow transplant, with marrow donated by his little brother, Brixxton. MUSC officials say the brothers are now “thriving”. His child’s story will be highlighted on the stadium’s video board during the game, which MUSC leaders say will showcase his courage and resilience as an inspiration as he continues his medical journey. “When Jaxson steps onto the field, he won’t just be throwing a pitch – he’ll be symbolizing hope for other children, proving that anything is possible,” said MUSC leaders.
