Open Thread: Naismith 2025 class participate in a photo op in San Antonio
Apr 06, 2025
Some big stars graced The Alamo City this weekend With the festivities of the NCAA Final Four taking place in the Alamo City, it stands to reason that San Antonio is the place to find an abundance of basketball greats.
The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025 were named and
gathered for a photo op in front of the Alamo, one of San Antonio’s major tourist attractions.
The photo included NBA stars Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony, NBA official Danny Crawford, two-time NCAA national champion coach Billy Donovan, and Miami Heat owner Mickey Arison, who oversaw three NBA championships and seven Eastern Conference titles.
This year’s enshrinement takes place on September 6th.
In addition, this year’s ceremony includes WNBA superstars Sue Bird, Sylvia Fowles, Maya Moore, and the 2008 USA Basketball Men’s Olympic Team, known as the “Redeem Team,” named because 2004 was the only time the U.S. Men’s Basketball team has failed to bring home the gold since 1972 (not counting when the Americans boycotted the 1980 Soviet Union hosted Olympics).
