Salt Lake City, Utah — UCLA gymnastics is headed to the NCAA Gymnastics Championships after finishing in second place at the NCAA Regional Final. The Bruins scored 197.625, just two-tenths behind first-place and No. 4 seed Utah, who scored 197.825. Denver placed third with a score of 197.350, and Minnesota was fourth with a 196.825. UCLA opened with a 49.450 on floor, led by Brooklyn Moors’ 9.950. Mika Webster-Longin and Chae Campbell each added 9.900s, while Jordan Chiles contributed a 9.825 despite a shaky landing. UCLA was in second place after each rotation, clinching the NCAA berth after scoring 49.425 on balance beam in the final rotation. Denver led the competition after both the first and second rotations after balance beam (49.550) and floor exercise (49.500). They dropped to third after a sub-49 score on vault dropped Denver into third place going into the final rotation. They were unable to catch either the Bruins or Utes. The Bruins followed with a season-high 49.475 on vault. Webster-Longin scored a career-best 9.950, Campbell added a 9.925 and Chiles closed the rotation with a 9.900. On bars, UCLA posted a 49.275. Chiles led with a 9.900, while Campbell, Malabuyo and Webster-Longin each added 9.850s. The NCAA Championships will take place April 17 and 19 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
