MOORESVILLE, Ind. — A person died while attempting to clear debris from a private pond in Mooresville on Saturday. According to the Mooresville Fire Department, crews were called to North Lambert Court around 8:30 a.m. for a water rescue. Both MFD crews and the Brown Township Fire Department re sponded to the scene. A witness told MFD that a homeowner was attempting to move debris from the pond. Once the debris was cleared, however, a whirlpool was created. After the whirlpool was created, the victim, who MFD described as a male, was sucked underneath a culvert pipe. Crews were unable to rescue the victim after he was sucked into the culvert. Fire crews said that, due to high water, the person's body has not been recovered.
