MOORESVILLE, Ind. — A man has died in an attempt to clear debris from a dam at a private pond, the Mooresville Fire Department confirmed on Saturday. According to MFD, crews were called around 8:30 a.m. to N Lambert Court on the report of a water rescue. Both MFD crews and the Brown Township Fi re Department responded. A witness told MFD that a homeowner was attempting to move debris out of the pond. However, once the debris was cleared, a whirlpool was created. MFD said this led the man to be sucked underneath. While crews attempted to rescue him, they were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced deceased. Fire crews said that, due to high water, the decedent's body is currently unable to be recovered.
