Pedestrian in serious condition after crash on Rural Retreat Road, Burlington police say

BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — A pedestrian is in serious condition after a Friday evening crash involving a car, according to the Burlington Police Department.
A press release states that on Friday at 7:52 p.m., BPD officers responded to multiple 911 calls regarding a crash involving a car and pede
strian in the 3700 block of Rural Retreat Road.
The pedestrian, a 67-year-old Burlington woman, was taken to a nearby trauma facility, where she remains in serious condition.
A preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was walking northbound towards Joe Davidson Park and was within a crosswalk when she was struck by a 2019 Ford Escape SE, driven by an 82-year-old Burlington woman.
The driver was traveling westbound on Rural Retreat Road at the time of the crash.
Neither speed nor impairment is believed to be a factor in the crash.
