Spring it On craft fair raises funds for safe afterprom at North

Vendors selling jewelry, wooden goods, sweets, clothing and more packed Eastlake North High School on April 5 for the Spring it On craft fair.
Organizer Kristiana Seguinot said in an email before the event that more than 80 vendors were booked for this year’s show, the largest number in its histor
y. The Easter Bunny also made an appearance and posed for photos.
“If you can imagine it, we probably have a vendor who makes it,” she said. “Everything from crochet, baked goods, customized gifts, artists and many who will have those perfect add-ins for your Easter baskets this year.”
“With more vendors every year and having a fun event with the Easter Bunny to get everyone out of the winter slump we anticipate it to be a great day,” Seguinot added later.
The vendors stretched from the school’s commons to the back of the gym.

In a hallway next to the gym, Kathy Riley set up a table at Spring it On for the first time to show off products made from seashells. Riley has been making seashell goods for a couple years, and she said that she started after a trip to Florida.
Over in the gym, Larry Tucker showed off a wide range of wooden products, including carved crosses and toy trucks. He said that he has been woodworking since seventh grade, and his products include patriotic items, toys and bird houses.
Elsewhere in the gym, Sara Newton and her stepdaughter, Hailey, sold crocheted stuffed animals from their Gone off the Hook business. Sara Newton said that they have come to craft shows at North for three years.
“This one’s really good, so we keep coming back, but we also do a bunch of other shows,” she said.
And for visitors who wanted custom lights, Jerry Richardson was on hand with laser-cut box and lightbulb decorations themed for bands, local sports teams and more.
Seguinot said that two nonprofits also signed up to raise funds at the craft show. A Touch Of Teddy serves families who have faced pregnancy or infancy loss, while Willing Hearts Dalmatian Rescue helps Dalmatians in Ohio and six more states.
Seguinot had the idea to hold a craft fair at North in 2021. She said that she saw how the COVID-19 pandemic had stopped local craft shows, and as a business owner she understood the need for those events.
Organizers held their first show that year, The Craft Fair Before Christmas, and they have held two annual craft shows each year since.
Seguinot said that the events raise funds “to ensure students have the opportunity for a safe, sober and fun after-prom event come senior year.” Each graduating class raises funds at two of the craft fairs, and all proceeds from this year’s spring craft fair benefitted the class of 2026.

After-prom supporter Tony Siracusa said shortly after the show started that the committee was two-thirds of the way to its $40,000 goal.
“This is our fifth year doing this for the after-proms, and each year, the junior and senior after-proms get two turns at the craft fair,” Siracusa said.
He said that the after-prom committee will raise more funds at the Christmas craft show later this year. It will also staff Lake County Captains parking for two days in 2025.
North’s class of 2028 after-prom will host a craft and vendor show at the Lake County Fairgrounds on Oct. 4, Seguinot said. More information about that event will be available later in April. ...read more read less
