CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A 66-year-old woman remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in the South Bay on Friday afternoon, authorities said.
According to the Chula Vista Police Department, the ped
estrian, a San Diego resident, was crossing at the intersection of E Street and Woodlawn Avenue shortly before 2:30 p.m. when the incident occurred.

For reasons still under investigation, a 94-year-old driver, a Bonita resident, struck the pedestrian while traveling through the intersection, police said. There were no passengers in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Meanwhile, the driver was not injured.
At this time, investigators with CVPD's Traffic Bureau do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
