So close, but no cigar against the number one team in the East. Coming off a win versus the Denver Nuggets, the Spurs took on the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Frost Bank Center. The Cavs dominated the first half by taking a 17-point lead, and the lead e
ven grew to 23 at one point. However, the Spurs began to flip a switch in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to nine points heading into the fourth. Just when it looked like the Cavs were pulling away, the Spurs embarked on a 14-2 run to make it a one-possession game in the final seconds thanks to Harrison Barnes’ back-to-back clutch threes. In the final possession, Barnes missed a game-winning hook shot at the buzzer and the Cavs won 114-113.
Devin Vassell dropped a team-high 24 points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Dev shot 50% from the field, including 60% from three. His impact on both ends was prevalent throughout the contest. With performances like these, it would be hard to trade him.

Harrison Barnes dropped 23 points and one assist. He shot 50% from the field and 50% from three. Two of his threes came in late in the fourth to cut the lead to one. Even though some fans are upset with his missed game-winner, the squad would not even have the chance to win without him.

Stephon Castle dropped a near triple-double: 22 points, 11 assists, nine rebounds. He also dropped a steal. He shot an efficient 50% from the field and made highlight plays the entire game. He is definitely playing like the ROTY.

After falling behind by 23, the fact that this squad even had a chance to win the game at the buzzer is nothing to scoff at. The Cavs are championship contenders, so just add Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox next season and things will get interesting. Great grit from the Silver and Black.
