FRANKLIN, Ind. — A Franklin business elected to stay open on Saturday despite flood waters filling up their basement.
According to an Instagram post from Middle Davids Candles, the store flooded due to storms, yet the owners decided to keep the doors open until 3 p.m. on Saturday.
"Yes, we f
looded," the post reads. "We are devastated but need to stay open for anyone willing to do some shopping to help support us."

The store said it chose to close at 3 p.m., as that is when rain is expected to return to the Franklin area.
"You know it's bad when there are waves in the basement," the post concluded.
"I would like to thank everyone who has reached out to help and encourage via social media, shopping online or in our shop," Middle Davids Candles said in a statement. "We were prepared, but the water rose higher than expected, so the support from the community means so much to us.
"We have done what we can to alleviate further damage in the basement in case the rain continues hard enough to flood even further - hoping and praying that doesn’t happen. We are not the only ones damaged by this weather and we hope that everyone stays safe and takes care of their neighbors as our community has been supporting us." ...read more read less
