Marble Hill Farm reaches 25 years in Bloomington community
Each and every Saturday, WISH-TV highlights a local company together with our partners at Indiana Grown.
This week, Marble Hill Farm is showcasing its innovative use of wool products as part of its regenerative agriculture practices.
Owned by Whitney and Kip Schlegel, Marble Hill Farm has been operating for 25 years, raising all-natural Angus grass-finished beef, pasture-raised poultry, and Shetland sheep for wool. The farm also produces specialty crops and dye plants, all while maintaining a focus on soil health and sustainability.
“Our farm practices are what we call ‘soil to soil’ farming,” Whitney said.
The farm is committed to community engagement through youth summer camps, farm tours, and collaborations with local organizations like Purdue Extension and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture.
Marble Hill Farm uses waste wool from their sheep to make wool pellets, which can benefit soil quality, harvest yields, and can reduce the need for water.
You can buy Marble Hill Farm’s products at the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market, the Bloomington Farm Stop Collective, and online. The farm also participates in the Indiana Grown State Fair Marketplace.
