FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) - Authorities in Fond du Lac County are alerting residents of a recent spike in 'Jury Duty' scams where the scammer spoofs a real caller ID. A release sent out by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office on Saturday afternoon states that deputies received several re ports from residents on Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5, concerning the ongoing "Jury Duty Scam." During the recent incidents, the scammer posed as a member of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office and is even spoofing the caller ID to make it look like it is coming from the Sheriff's Office. 14-year-old driver flees from Wisconsin authorities 3 times in one night, arrested after 4th try The scammer informs the victim that they have missed jury duty and must pay fines, or they will face jail time for contempt of court.
