Chicopee crews put out structure fire on Sergeant Avenue

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A structure fire in Chicopee Friday evening caused the temporary closure of Sergeant Avenue.

According to the Chicopee Police Department, as of 10:15 p.m., crews were
actively working to put out a structure fire, which had closed off Sergeant Avenue. When 22News crews arrived, two units at the complex were damaged.
Chicopee Fire said the fire was extinguished quickly and that the building's occupants had evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported. The Red Cross is assisting all residents who are temporarily without a home due to the fire.
