Topeka artists unveil artwork ahead of Roar and Pour
Apr 04, 2025
TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center's Roar and Pour is right around the corner and artists are preparing to auction off their work.
This year the zoo has commissioned seven local artists and animals to work together to create works of art. The money raised from the auction will
go to the Zoo's conservation fund. Artists have around three months to work with their animals and create their pieces.
One artist chose an orangutan.
"I really enjoy their movements, their arms, and that's kind of what inspired the teapots and how they move their arms around," Artist, Monette Mark said.

"Once the animal has gotten their share, then the artist comes in and then creates around the painting that the animals have already done," Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center Director of Marketing, Jim Ramos said. "And it's just awesome. It's beautiful work."
The annual Roar and Pour Wine Fest will be on Saturday, April 26.
