FORECAST: Cloudy and damp, isolated showers Saturday AM
Apr 04, 2025
Scattered showers and a few storms made things a bit soggy and noisy at the beginning of the day, but it's been relatively quiet since then. We certainly haven't been able to get rid of the clouds as a front drops south of the DMV, creating quite a wide range of temperatures this afternoon. Regardle
ss of how warm or cool you are, everyone will fall back into the 50s and lower 60s as a damp, misty setup takes hold. The same front to our south will bounce back north as a warm front into Saturday morning, bringing another round of isolated showers and a few storms. The night will start dry, but soggy conditions will return across VA and southern MD through the middle of the night, pushing north toward the PA-MD line by sunrise.
As this front continues to lift north, showers will head into PA and allow us to dry out heading into Saturday afternoon. Tomorrow's temperatures will highly depend on how far north the front goes. Locations to the south will see warmer 70s and lower 80s, while locations to the north could stay in the 60s if the front takes its time pushing into PA. After a lull through the middle of the day, showers and a few storms will move back into western MD and WV along the mountain ranges in the evening before spreading across the rest of the area Saturday night.
The soggiest/stormiest day of this stretch will be on Sunday, as the storm system to our west finally gets moving and drags a cold front across the DMV. This will bring on-and-off rain and scattered storms, especially in the afternoon and evening. Given the ongoing drought, any rainfall will be welcome and won't cause problems. A few storms could be strong to severe, but the chance of severe weather remains low overall. Gusty winds and small hail would be the threats with any stronger storms that develop. Steadier rain starts to head out Sunday night with the cold front.
After a stretch of warmer days with all of the soggy weather, temperatures will take a free fall early next week. Behind the first cold front, a few showers and clouds will hang around east of the I-95 corridor in the morning. Even as things clear up in the afternoon, temperatures will struggle to rebound into the 50s. A second, dry cold front will arrive Monday night, kicking up gusty northwest winds and making it even colder. We'll struggle to get out of the 30s and 40s on Tuesday with these windy conditions continuing, and much of the area could see frost Tuesday night. High pressure calms things down and starts to warm us up on Wednesday and Thursday. We'll be in the 60s by next Friday as our next chance of rain arrives before the end of the week.
Stay dry, and have a great weekend!
