Apr 04, 2025
SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) -- Eight suspected members of a "ruthless" Greenfield-based gang were arrested Wednesday in connection to a "random" fatal shooting in San Jose, police announced Friday.
On January 11, the San Jose Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on Loma Verde Drive an
d found a 27-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives identified eight men as suspects in the killing:
Andre Novoa, 18, of Greenfield
David Gomez-Moreno, 19, of Soledad
Damien Perea, 19, of Sacramento
Diego Narez, 19, of King City
Anthony Martinez, 19, of Soledad
Dario Botello, 19, of Elverta
Eduardo Camacho-Hernandez, 20, of Greenfield
Adrian Pineda-Juarez, 20, of Greenfield
San Jose Police Chief Paul Joseph said at a news conference Friday, "On the morning of January 11, eight members of a ruthless gang left their homes in two different counties and traveled to San Jose. They were armed with firearms and motivated to find and kill rival gang members. They targeted a specific San Jose neighborhood with their evil intent. Their victim, however, would be random and not personally known to the suspects."
Adrian Pineda-Juarez, David Gomez-Moreno, and Andre Novoa are seen in mugshots released by the San Jose Police Department.
Damien Perea, Diego Narez, and Anthony Martinez are seen in mugshots released by the San Jose Police Department.
Investigators combed for evidence by executing search warrants in 14 homes, 20 vehicles, and seven prison cells.
"A key break in the case came through video surveillance and automated license plate reader cameras which began to piece together that the suspects were part of a violent criminal street gang from the City of Greenfield," Joseph said.

All eight suspected gang members were arrested for murder Wednesday in a multi-agency operation. The agencies included: San Jose PD, Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, King City PD, Greenfield PD, Salinas PD, Watsonville PD, Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Sacramento PD and Monterey Peninsula Special Response Unit.

On the day of the arrests, Greenfield police assured local residents on social media that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was not involved.
The same Greenfield street gang in south Monterey County was responsible last year for the shooting of a six-year-old child at a baptism, a double homicide near Soledad, and a quadruple homicide with 11 shooting victims in King City, investigators said.
The four King City homicide victims were gunned down at a birthday part in the front yard of a house. Near Soledad, two cousins were shot and killed on Los Coches Road in a case of mistaken identity, deputies said. The cousins had no ties to gangs, and no criminal background.
The motive for the "random" San Jose killing remains under investigation, police said.
Eduardo Camacho-Hernandez and Dario Botello are seen in mugshots released by the San Jose Police Department.
"San Jose's a great place to visit, but if you come here to commit violence and you take a life, we will come visit you," Joseph said. ...read more read less
