With just six games left in the season, the Spurs face a familiar opponent Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply
and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
The Spurs played the Cavs just eight days ago, losing 122-116, and the major difference tonight is that Evan Mobley should be back in the game after sitting out last week’s contest. The Spurs are coming off of a fun win over the ‘Nuggets’. Scare quotes, because Denver sat their entire starting lineup and played a bunch of young guys who demonstrated their team’s greatest weakness, lack of bench depth. The Spurs were also without the services of Jeremy Sochan and Keldon Johnson, so it was a pretty even contest, which the good guys won for a change.
I’m not going to waste a lot of time talking about the Cavaliers, because you saw them last week and you know who they are. They’re the best team in the Eastern Conference, and sometimes they play down to the level of their competition. They have a five game lead on the Celtics with six games to play, so it seems they have the number one seed pretty well locked up, but a win tonight would seal the deal. The Spurs are four games behind the Kings for the play-in with six to play, so they should be officially eliminated from the postseason this weekend.
The rest of the season is just about playing the young guys and enjoying the journey. Remember, it takes a lot of bricks to build a Castle, so just keep watching. Go Spurs!
Game Prediction:
The technicians at KENS will fall asleep in the control room and somehow they will play some show about horsegirls instead of the game, and nobody will complain, even though the show is terrible.
One final word:
GO SPURS GOOOO!!!
