RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — While there will be some new faces on the Richmond Flying Squirrels roster this year, fourth-year outfielder Vaun Brown says the feeling of opening day is always special for rookies and veterans alike.
For Brown, it’s always a different feeling once opening day arrives, a

“It’s a lot of excitement. I think we're all ready to start the full season, get out of the spring training mindset and kind of, you know, have some fun and just enjoy it,” Brown said. “Getting a good breakfast is important. Hit the cold tub, get some sun. Chopping it up with my teammates. We throw some cards on the table. Just kind of hanging out enjoying it.”
The 2022 Minor League Batting Champion said this season will be bittersweet as the Diamond Stadium will be coming to an end. But it will always hold a special place in his heart.
“Friday night, when you're here and the lights are on and the fans are yelling and we're on the scoreboard that says, ‘make some loud noises,’ you can’t hear yourself think, you know? And you got a guy on second, bottom nine, your guy strikes him out for the win. It's incredible. And I think we're all excited to hear that.”
Brown said he’s excited to play in front of what many people consider the best atmospheres in all of minor league baseball. ...read more read less
