Central and eastern Kentucky has seen tremendous rainfall in the past couple days and more is on the way. As a warm front stalls across northern Kentucky tonight, severe t-storms pop in southern Kentucky. We are expecting a break from showers and storms during a brief overnight period, just ahead
of more shower and storm chances returning early Saturday morning. A cold front approaching from the west/southwest Saturday will sweep across the state bringing another day of rain and storms.
While some parts of central KY have already seen over 6.6″ of rain in the past 2 days, another 4-6″ (or more) is possible through the weekend. Most of central and eastern KY is under a flood watch while flash flood warnings are in effect for all areas near the Kentucky River, Red River and surrounding rivers and streams
A much needed break from the rain should come Sunday as the cold front exits, although the warmer temperatures go with it. Sunday afternoon will likely only peak in the mid to upper 40s, and we will only see highs in the 40s and 50s for the first part of next week’s work week.
