LEXINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) -- A man was charged in connection to a shooting on Thursday that left a woman in the hospital, according to a Lexington Police Department news release. At 9:38 p.m., officers got a call about someone at a hospital who had been shot. Officers then learned the victim, a 25-year-old Lexington woman, was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle after a shooting on Smith Avenue near Miller Street. The victim's condition is unknown at this time. The suspect was identified as Christopher Malik Bacote, 28, of Lexington. He was taken into custody on Friday in the 900 block of Ulysses Street in Lexington. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Bacote is being held in the Davidson County Jail with no bond.
