Summerville's 52nd annual Flowertown Festival kicks off
Apr 04, 2025
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD)-- Summerville's biggest event of the year is here, and officials say they expect over 250,000 people to come through the Flowertown Festival this weekend. Visitors from all over the Lowcountry come to Summerville for the festival and for many locals it's an annual tradition
"This is my favorite time of year, this is my 4th year coming, I love it here this is me and my boyfriends annual date night," said Angela Tucker, a Summerville Resident.
The Summerville Family YMCA works year-round to put on the event.
"Managing it has been a true community approach. Tons of nonprofits, businesses, our police force, our EMS help us put on this event and without their help, we would not be able to do that," said Joe Debney, the CEO of the Summerville YMCA.
There are over 400 vendors throughout the main street who say they love to meet the communities they serve face-to-face.
"It's a very big day. I appreciate the repeat customers that come back, I'm here all weekend long and I've been doing this now for three years and it's been great," said Nathaniel Parker, the Owner and CEO of Nate's BBQ Sauce.
And the money from the festival goes right back to the community.
"The point of it is to bring dollars back into our community, but even more than that, it allows us to scholarship families that can't afford a membership. It also helps us give back into our community by our community health programming, recreational sports for kids, childcare options, so it allows us to serve in a much bigger role than we could otherwise," said Debney. The festival goes from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 4th, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 5th and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 6th.
