HYATTSVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) -- Members of the community and the wife of a Maryland man who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador are pleading for the Trump administration to bring her husband back home.
Tears were shed as Jennifer spoke during a rally hosted by the advocacy group CASA on Frid
ay.
“I miss you so much, and I’m doing the best to fight for you and your children," she said.
She shared the emotional rollercoaster she's been on for the past three weeks as she tries to navigate another day without her husband, 29-year-old Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
“I'm alone, confused in a broken home, empty without Kilmar. That nightmare has become my reality for the past 23 days," she said.
The father of three was "mistakenly" picked up and deported to by ICE to Cecot prison in El Salvador in March.

“'If you were strong, I’ll be strong' were his last words. He said to me, when he was handcuffed on a curb waiting for me to pick up Kilmar Jr., my five-year-old son, who was in the car when ICE kidnapped him," she said.
Abrego Garcia fled to the U.S. in 2011 after his family was threatened by gang members. In 2019, a judge granted him protection from being deported. The White House admitted his recent deportation was an "administrative error."
"The government sent him there, knowing it was prohibited from sending him there. They call this an error, and are refusing to lift a single finger to bring him back. This cannot stand," said the lawyer who represented Abrego Garcia in his 2019 case.
The White House acknowledged there was an "administrative error" in regards to deporting the 29-year-old, but they also said Abrego Garcia is an MS-13 gang member.
His lawyers said there is no evidence to back up that claim, and no proper court proceedings were followed.
"This case is about restoring the rule of law over unchecked power," said Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, the attorney representing Kilmar. "The Department of Homeland Security must obey the orders of the immigration courts, or else such courts become meaningless."
Outrage grows over Maryland man’s mistaken deportation to El Salvador prison
"There is nothing accidental about violating a clear court order, there is nothing just about disappearing somebody into a notorious Salvadorian prison," said Lydia Walter-Rodriguez, said Chief of Organizing with CASA
During Friday's rally, CASA members, Prince George's County Council Vice Chair Krystal Oriadha, County Council member Eric C. Olson and loved ones of Abrego Garcia stood in solidarity chanting, "ICE out of Maryland."
They said they would not stop fighting until Abrego Garcia was back home in Maryland.
"If I had all the money in the world, I'd spend it all just to buy one thing… that one phone call to hear your voice again," said his wife.
A hearing was scheduled at the U.S. District Court in Greenbelt at 1 p.m. on April 4, requesting that he be brought back home. ...read more read less
