DC police find over 200 pounds of synthetic marijuana during search of home

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Police in the District said they recovered guns and hundreds of pounds of synthetic marijuana during a search on Tuesday.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) was investigating the manufacturing of Synthetic Cannabinoids in the 1300 block of E Street SE on the aft
ernoon of April 1.
There, investigators saw 28-year-old Tyrone Phillips loading a storage tub into a car outside of a home. MPD said he was placed under arrest without incident and that a "brown leafy substance" was observed in the tub.

While searching a home in the block, MPD said authorities found 214 pounds of suspected synthetic marijuana, along with an AK-47-style pistol and two handguns. Additional items used to manufacture the drugs were also recovered.

Phillips was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Counterfeit Tags.
