WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Police in the District said they recovered guns and hundreds of pounds of synthetic marijuana during a search on Tuesday. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) was investigating the manufacturing of Synthetic Cannabinoids in the 1300 block of E Street SE on the aft ernoon of April 1. There, investigators saw 28-year-old Tyrone Phillips loading a storage tub into a car outside of a home. MPD said he was placed under arrest without incident and that a "brown leafy substance" was observed in the tub. (Courtesy of the Metropolitan Police Department) While searching a home in the block, MPD said authorities found 214 pounds of suspected synthetic marijuana, along with an AK-47-style pistol and two handguns.
