Aerialist couple Kuhn, Dehlinger dominate World Championships
Apr 04, 2025
Tuesday on the U.S. Ski Team’s Instagram, the organization publicized, or “hard-launched,” the relationship between two of its star aerialists Kaila Kuhn and Quinn Dehlinger. The pair likely signed off on the post — their first together on social media, a celebration of their massive accompl
ishments at last week’s freestyle World Championships. Kuhn could not be stopped, winning both the individual and team events. Dehlinger combined with his girlfriend Kuhn for that team event, coming in second in the men’s individual event. The championships were a breakout event for Kuhn, her first wins on the world stage, and cemented Dehlinger’s return to the top of the sport following a 2024 ACL injury. The championships wrapped up Kuhn, Dehlinger and the rest of the aerials field’s seasons. They’ll now take some time to relax before getting back into the thick of training ahead of an Olympic year. Kuhn, 21, will be chasing her second Games bid next season, finishing eighth in Beijing, while Dehlinger will be aiming to make his Olympic debut. “It means so much,” said Kuhn on her Championships success. “After a frustrating couple of seasons working on transitioning to triples (flips), it feels like they are finally starting to click.”Kuhn couldn’t have hoped for a better time for her jumps to start to click than at the championships. She landed near-perfect tricks in each event, outscoring the women’s field by several points. “It was incredible to win the team event with Quinn and Chris,” added Kuhn. “We had a great mindset as a team heading into the event, and it was so special that we all put our best jumps down when it counted.”Dehlinger and Lillis brought the winning experience to the team, having won Championships gold in the event in 2023 with recently retired Ashley Caldwell. Lillis, Caldwell and Justin Schoenefeld won gold in Beijing in 2022. It’s possible the winning trio in Engadin could be the same in Milan next winter. She’ll continue to work on mastering her triples — trying to nail the added difficulty more consistently. Kuhn said her favorite moment from the entire season was having her mom and grandma in Engadin to watch her take home two golds. “It’s been incredible jumping again after last year’s season-ending injury,” said Dehlinger. “To be able to compete and come out with these results was an amazing way to end the season — and confirm all the hard work.”It was important for Dehlinger to succeed at the Championships and defend his team gold. He said Team USA always tends to show up when the lights are brightest. Winning two World Cups in 2023, Dehlinger returned to glory this February, winning the Deer Valley World Cup. Dehlinger will continue to put his head down this offseason and trust in his process. He too wants to increase his jump difficulty in preparation for the Olympic year, so he’s got plenty of high water ramp time penciled in at the Olympic Park this summer. The post Aerialist couple Kuhn, Dehlinger dominate World Championships appeared first on Park Record. ...read more read less
