INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The National Weather Service has confirmed at least eight tornadoes touched down in Indiana Wednesday as violent storms moved through the Hoosier State and other parts of the Midwest. Three of these tornadoes were located in northern Indiana, while the other five touc hed down in central Indiana, including Brownsburg and Carmel. The most recently confirmed tornadoes are considered rare in the weather world. According to the NWS, two tornadoes touched down in Adams County at the same time, and followed each other on parallel tracks. The pair of EF-1 tornadoes had estimated wind speeds of 95 – 105 mph, and dissipated before the Mercer County line. The tornadoes left a path of destruction, destroying “well-built pole barns,” ripping roofs from mobile homes, and tossing a grain silo half a mile away from its initial location. No injuries were reported from these twin twisters. One other tornado was confirmed for northern Indiana on Friday, as well. According to the NWS’ survey, an EF-1 tornado began its track southeast of Rutland on State Road 10 in Marshall County and quickly moved northeast. Wind speeds reached 105 mph, uprooting trees and severely damaging roofs on houses. Its track lasted at least 18 miles before it eventually ending its path in Kosciusko County.
