Two men arrested after allegedly causing car crash during police chase

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Two men in their 50s were arrested and charged after they allegedly caused a car crash during a police chase on Thursday, according to Cheektowaga police.
Police said two men fled from the Walden Galleria following a shoplifting incident at the store "Going, Going, Gone!"
Cheektowaga police received the call just before 11:30 a.m. and responded to the area. A vehicle matching a witness's description was located.
A police chase ensued Northbound on Union Road away from Galleria Drive. The suspect vehicle allegedly drove recklessly, disregarding emergency lights and sirens, and traffic signals, causing a collision at Union Road and Genesee Street, police said.
Preston Haris, 55, of Lackawanna, and Byron Robinson, 56, of Buffalo, were arrested a short distance away from the accident.
Haris, identified by police as the driver, was charged with petit larceny, second-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, resisting arrest and second-degree criminal impersonation. He was held pending arraignment.
Robin, a passenger, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and released on an appearance ticket.
