BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The trial for Riddhi Patel, the protester charged with felony for allegedly threatening Bakersfield City Council members, was postponed to August.
Patel’s attorney, Deputy Public Defender Jacob Evans, appeared on behalf of Patel at the readiness hearing on April 4.
He requested a new trial date and the judge agreed to reschedule Patel’s trial for Aug. 11.

Patel was arrested on April 10 during a city council meeting. She was criticizing security measures and claiming they were retaliation against protesters demanding the council to pass a resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza when she told the council, “We’ll see you at your house, we’ll murder you.”
Patel was charged with 24 counts related to threats.
