Here are 6 more affordable options Franchise owner and Kirtland resident Cristina Soriano is bringing goods from her home-baking business to the new Maggie’s cafe, which can be found at 9183 Chillicothe Road, Unit B. Besides the brand’s namesake doughnuts, the cafe will also offer coffee and espresso drinks, lattes, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, croissants and more. “All my bakery is unique to me,” Soriano said. “I make special different items that are not carried around here, like oatmeal cream pies and cassata cupcakes I make and cookie butter danishes.” She said that she has operated a home baking business for 15 years. During that time, she worked with different local businesses. “I’ve always had a dream of opening up my own storefront, and when the Maggie’s franchise came in mind, they were really nice to allow me to have my own options here in the franchise and not be so cookie-cutter,” Soriano said. “They were allowing me to create a full menu and sell their doughnuts, so that’s exactly what I did.” Her family worked from November through March to move the business into the space and to change it to fit their needs before the March 27 grand opening. (Bryson Durst — The News-Herald) She hopes that the community enjoys the new space. “I wanted to bring something to Kirtland that was fun and a place where people could hang out, they could grab really good doughnuts, great coffee and an atmosphere here where everybody is welcome,” Soriano said. Maggie’s Doughnuts has operated since 1959. In addition to Soriano’s new Kirtland location, it can also be found in Middlefield, Chardon and other locations in Northeast Ohio.
