Multiple arrested for speeding up to 152 MPH in Kapolei 'night run'

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Honolulu police are cracking down on highway racers after officers targeted an overnight "night run" from March 28 to March 29.

HPD's Traffic Division was notified of the night run in the Kapolei ar
ea, which involved dangerous activities such as racking and speeding.
Multiple people were arrested for various offenses.
According to HPD, 10 people were charged with racing, 12 were charged with excessive speeding, six for reckless driving and three for driving under the influence.
An additional 17 citations were issued, including four for excessive speeding, two for reckless driving, one for moving and ten for miscellaneous offenses.

The suspects were clocked at speeds of 106 in a 60 mph zone, 117, 142 and one as 152 in 55 mph. Those are individuals who might not be on e-bikes or e-motorcycles, but in cars, still violating the law, putting their own lives in danger and anyone who might be on the highway.

Honolulu police said they remain committed to keeping the streets free from reckless and dangerous driving as speed and alcohol contribute to car crashes and traffic deaths in the state.
