ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Rochester's annual Lilac Festival is right around the corner, and park officials are busy getting the flowers ready for their big debut. This year marks the 127th anniversary of the event which opens on May 9. Organizers have been busy year-round, and say come prep ared to be wowed. News 8 checked in with the Monroe County park's superintendent of horticulture to see if these world-famous lilacs are on track to be in full bloom. "We expect them to bloom right on time during the festival. It's a little bit early for me to tell exactly when they're going to bloom but if you look at historical records, they tend to bloom 85% of the time they hit the festival," superintendent Mark Quinn said.
