AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - Spring is here and it's time to put away the snow blower and get out the lawn mower.
If you want your lawn mower to start, you should make sure it's in good working condition.
It's that time of year to put away the snow blower. But before you do, there are some important
things you should do to it first.
Marty Jagodowski of Taplin Yard, Pump, and Power Equipment in Agawam told 22News, "Either run it out of gas or if it has a fuel shut off, shut the fuel shut off and just let the machine run itself out of fuel and if you can just rinse the salt off of it before you put it away."
Now our attention turns to our yards and getting out the lawn mower and there are some important things you should do to your lawn mower before you start using it for the season. Jagodowski says it's very important to check and see if mice have gotten into it, "They eat the wires, they go right into the carburetor they clog up the machine, if you don't know they're in there and you turn it over all that nesting stuff gets into the works of the machine, they just create a real problem."
You should change your lawn mower's spark plugs and air filter and it's also important to sharpen your blade as well. And before you start mowing the lawn be sure to check for any objects or debris that might be in the grass.
