The guilty plea stems back to the night of Sept. 19, 2024. John Doe was riding a bicycle when Wyaco shot him in the abdomen from the passenger side of his girlfriend's vehicle. He was taken to Zuni Hospital, then the University of New Mexico Hospital. He survived the shooting.
Police identified Wyaco as the suspect through his girlfriend's statements. Those statements were confirmed through a federal search warrant carried out at her home, where the firearm was recovered. In the plea agreement, Wyaco confessed to shooting at John Doe after getting angry at a cyclist throwing a rock at the car.
Wyaco pled guilty to all three charges in the indictment, including assault with a dangerous weapon, using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Prior convictions include possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and aggravated fleeing from a law enforcement officer. Wyaco is an enrolled member of the Zuni Pueblo.
