MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) - A 19-year-old man was sentenced on Thursday to 11 years in federal prison for his involvement in multiple armed carjackings in Milwaukee in 2024. According to Richard G. Frohling, the Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, James Poole of Milw aukee will spend 11 years in prison and then three years on supervised release. Poole must also pay restitution. Poole was part of two armed carjackings in January 2024, with each involving the presence of a firearm. The first occurred on January 29, 2024, around 7:45 p.m., when Poole committed a carjacking in the 2400 block of North Farwell Avenue on the east side of Milwaukee. The second happened the next day at 5 p.m. when he stole a car in a downtown parking lot near 2nd Street and Plankinton Avenue. Poole led officers on a high-speed pursuit throughout neighborhoods at speeds up to 90 miles per hour. He crashed into a tree, causing life-threatening injuries to passengers.
