The 'Patron Experience' at Augusta National Women's Amateur
Apr 03, 2025
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) - Thursday was a special time for the patrons of Round 2 of the Augusta National Women's Amateur at the Champions Retreat Golf Club.
The time has come. The shuttle doors open. You walk through the entrance. Grab your spectator guide. Then what?
"Definitely shopping first, a
nd then pictures and then food," says patrons Emma Man and Michele Key
"I just want to watch the tee off because for me, that's the most interesting part because it kicks off the whole event," says 13-year-old Stuart Mitchell.
"I mean, you kind of have to hit the gift shops, right? I would say eat. Right? Coffee," says patrons Willie, Sam, and Alex.
"Maybe look for the sister? Maybe look for the sister. But take it all in."

His sister is Lauren Nguyen. Don't worry: he found her.
Moving on to shopping... there are the staples you have to get.
"Got my banner. It has the year on it and works out well," says patron Ken Askelson.
"It's so fun this year because Augusta National was able to sort of revamp the ANWA line for us so everything is new," says Bethany Coe, the ANWA Retail Store Manager
If you grabbed one of these, consider yourself lucky.
"Beautiful mint green jumper. I had to. It's probably too hot for that today, but anyway," says patrons George, Jane, and Mark Salmon.
Shopping can really work up an appetite: to the concessions we go.
"It's incredible that you can get a sandwich at a golf tournament for $1.50. In Phoenix, you're talking $6 or $7," says patrons Ken and Ron Askelson.
"We like to get pictures of the concession board, and the egg sandwiches that we eat," says patrons Lyn Rehn and Nicole Presby.
Pictures, pictures, pictures! Everyone is looking for that perfect angle.
"Do you feel confident about the final product of your photo?"
"I guess the viewers will be the ones to decide that, right? It's going to go viral. Let's see how many hearts I get," says patrons Willie, Sam, and Alex.
But for others, a perfect patron experience is finding some empty rocking chairs and taking in the sites and sounds as they pass by in front of you.
"Great seeing people out here just people from all over the country. As we're walking and we're listening to the different language and people talking. Folks came to Augusta in droves and it's a beautiful course," says patrons Jackson and ShDonna Drumgoole.
If you did not make it here on Thursday, ANWA items will still be sold at the pro shop at Augusta National Golf Club next week during the Masters Tournament. ...read more read less
