WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- One man in D.C. had "Lady Luck" on his side when he won $1 million in a Powerball drawing.
D.C. native Tommy W. purchased the winning lottery ticket at the Tenley Market on Wisconsin Avenue in Northwest.
“It hit me hard, I lost my mom and my dog within a short tim
eframe,” he recalled. “But, I had a dream just the other day. It told me I was going to be a millionaire. And here it is. It’s real!"
The winning numbers for the March 26 drawing were 5-20-29-39-53, and the Powerball was 6. Tommy secured his win by hitting all five white balls.

The loyal player said Tenley Market, which is a staple in the Northwest D.C. community, has been his go-to for years.
“As regular players, we’re all familiar with one another. We talk about what numbers came out, who won—and this time, it’s me!” said Tommy.
He said he plans to use the money to treat himself to a well-deserved vacation and save the rest for his life's next chapter after retirement.
Tommy's win marks the DC Lottery's highest Powerball award for March 2025.
DC Lottery officials said someone also won a $50,000 Powerball ticket from the drawing held on March 29, but the person has not yet claimed their ticket.
