Norfolk man convicted for killing person who mistakenly knocked on his door

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A Norfolk jury found 74-year-old Leroy King guilty of killing a man who mistakenly knocked on his apartment door in 2023.

According to the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, evidence showed that King shot and k
illed 38-year-old Albert Patrick Johnson on June 20, 2023.
Police: 1 dead in Ocean View shooting, 1 detained
Johnson was at the Ocean View apartment complex to visit King's next-door neighbor. He mistakenly knocked on King's door. King came outside armed with a handgun and shot Mr. Johnson twice, in his neck and torso. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, King pleaded not guilty to his charges of second degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of murder. The case went to a jury trial.
After hearing evidence, the jury convicted King on both charges.
